Split is the home of a Diocletian Palace that is still occupied. Roman empower Diocletian built it in AD 293 and its been around ever since. Over the years it has even abandoned, bombed during the war and reconstructed. What’s interesting is the underground support structure which we toured. During the centuries and war, this was filled with debris. When they began to restore it, some of the house above began to sink so they had to stop the restoration. On top, the town is alive with stores and restaurants.

James B. Casey We’ll be visiting Split soon. Looking forward to seeing Diocletian’s retirement pad.
